Nonprofit Grant Writer: Job Description and Requirements
Job Type: Full/ Part-time
 
The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana (HCCL) is seeking a grant writer for our nonprofit organization based in the Greater New Orleans Area. Nonprofit grant writers work to secure funding for organizations by writing grant proposals and providing support materials to be eligible to receiving funding.
 
Job Description Summary:
The grant writer will identify, define, and develop funding resources to support existing and planned program activities. The grant writer will also spend time learning the organization’s program, goals, and financial needs. Preference will be given to those with a successful track record for grant writing and program development. This position is an hourly position who is expected to work remotely.
 
Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with experience in fundraising and grant writing
Must be detail-oriented and highly organized
Possess excellent writing and verbal skills
Be proficient in research, interpreting, and analyzing data to achieve goals
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and database management skills
Ability to use independent judgement and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Spanish is beneficial but not required.
 
Responsibilities:
General
Exhibit professional conduct and personal integrity and abide by all policies of the HCCL.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Administrative Assistant, President & CEO, and Board
Grant writing duties
Identify both local and national grant prospects by conducting research.
Compose and develop proposals using funding sources and valuable, compiled information.
Work closely with the President and Executive Board to design projects suitable for securing grants and fund raising.
Write reports to corporations, foundations, and other funders.
Submit grant proposals in timely manners and report on use of funds to grant organizations.
 

Education:
Bachelor’s degree (Required)
Major in communications, English, writing, or        similar field preferred
 
Experience:
Grant Writer: 1 year (Required)
Database Software: 3 years (Required)
